The Belaire Bengals were at home this week against the Plaquemine Green Devils for their opening divisional matchup. It was a muddy environment, with rain falling up until gametime. The first quarter saw the teams trading possessions without points, until Plaquemine fumbled on Belaire’s 1 yard line, giving Belaire the ball at their own 2 yard line. The Plaquemine defense forced a safety to make the score 2-0 going into the half.

On the opening drive of the second half, Denichlass Jeter and Makih Palmer both broke off big runs, leading to a Belaire touchdown and a score of 7-2. Palmer scored a second touchdown, and then Plaquemine came right back with a score of their own, making the 2-0 halftime score 13-8 at the end of the third. In the 4th, DB Noah James came down with an interception on just the third passing attempt from Plaquemine to finish his crazy defensive stat line, with 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 sack. Belaire closed out the game with a couple kneel downs, and won 13-8 to move to 3-1 on the season.

Next Game: Homecoming Week vs. Broadmoor High School at Belaire High School at 7pm on Friday, October 8th
