Diamond In The Rough: Isreal Jolivette

Isreal Jolivette is a class of 2023 offensive linebacker from Carencro High School in Carencro, Louisiana. Isreal is 6’3 and weighs 240 pounds. Jolivette is a very multitalented player on and off the field and has proven multiple times that he will do whatever it takes to help his team win. Even with most of his time being taken up by football Isreal has still managed to keep a 3.0 GPA.

What things are you looking for most in a football program? Just the will to win and a good scheme. Having a good scheme and being tough and wanting to win results in a good program

What motivated you to get into playing this sport? Just wanting to take care of my family and make them proud by getting a college degree. Also, my brother was a big motivation he always tries to help me because he wants me to be better than he is.

What does football mean to you? Football to me means family. Being around my coaches for the past two years made me feel like we’re all just one big family. They’ve made me into the person I am today.

What’s your favorite thing about your position? My favorite thing about my position is just being physical. Making the person across from you want to quit every play.

What would you say are your main strengths on the field? One of my main strengths on the field is my toughness. My coaches have put in my head that the toughest team always comes out on top and that’s what I want to be

Three words to describe yourself. Hard-working, competitive, and a leader. Everything I do I want to be the best

How do you balance your schoolwork and football? I try to do most of my work in class instead of waiting until I get home. I’m usually finished early so I have some time to get work done for another class

Do you have a favorite NFL or College Athlete? I don’t really have a favorite athlete, but I usually try to watch other o linemen to see some of the things they do so I can try to replicate it in the game.

What would you like to major in? I would like to major in psychology or criminal justice.

What’s been the highlight of your football career? The highlight of my career is winning a state championship. I was injured for the game, but it was still one of the happiest moments of my football career

What type of things do you do in your offseason to keep yourself in shape? I wrestle and play basketball during the off-season. I also try to eat healthy and continue to work out.

What has football taught you about yourself or life? Football has taught me to never give up and to always believe in yourself. Never feel like a task is too much for you to handle.

What would you bring to a college team? To a college team, I would bring leadership and good influence. I always try to be in the front of the lines and I always try to make the person next to me better.

What would you say are some of your strengths? Some of my strengths are being smart and making good choices. Decision making is a necessary trait to be a successful athlete and a successful person off the field

How do you prepare for an upcoming game? I usually try to get a lot of rest and stretching done. I like to drink a lot of water and mostly just chill and relax.

How did you even get into football? Is there anything specific that motivated you to keep playing? I got into football by watching my brother play. I always wanted to be like him growing up and football was something that he did, so I chose to do it.

How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My teammates and coaches would describe me as a silent leader and a hard worker. I’m not very vocal but I lead by example.
