How long have you been playing football?

I started playing around 5th or 6th grade. I would have started earlier, but I wasn’t allowed to play rec ball because I was always too big for my age.

What is one of your biggest accomplishments you have had since you started playing football?

I would say it comes down to either receiving a college offer or being named first team All-Louisiana.

Last season was mostly great. Everything felt like it was running smoothly, but it had a tragic end to it.

Can you go into details on what you meant by it ending tragically?

We played in the second round of the playoffs and we were down by 2 with a chance to go up and win the game with a field goal. We made the field goal, but there was a holding penalty called and when we kicked it again it was no good. After the fact, it was told to us that it was actually a bad call, so we felt even worse about it.

What kind of expectations do you have for this year?

I expect nothing less than a state championship. The season has not started how we wanted it to, but we can turn it around and make it all the way.

I do try to by a Ray Lewis type of player. Someone who is looked at as the leader and is always energized. The type of player who can put a team on his back, that is who I want to be known as.

I would like to improve my movements. I feel like I could be much better if my technique was a bit tighter and my footwork was more sound.

Have you ever played any other sports?

I used to play basketball until after my freshman year, then I stopped and focused only on football.

How have you stayed in shape since last season?

I just tried working out with my senior class and my teammates. When the virus came through and everything was closed, we would go run on the levy. We also pulled money together to get some equipment and we used that to workout.

What is your favorite thing about playing football?

Its almost a rush you have when you play. You have a showcase to display your talent and what you can do and what your team can do. You also get to show how you can help your team succeed.

I would describe myself as a leader with a high football IQ, but also laid back. I am able to see things and call them out that helps my entire team out, and that comes from my dedication to watching film and trying to be the hardest worker.

What is your biggest motivation to continue playing football?

I just want to create a better lifestyle for myself and my family.

Is there any advice that would be helpful for younger players?

No sir.
