DITR: Jaiden Ausberry

Jaiden Ausberry is a 5-star linebacker at University Lab High School in Baton Rouge, LA. He runs a 40 time of 4.4 and is an Under Armour All-American. He’s very family-oriented and driven when it comes to football. He’s the son of the Deputy Athletic Director of LSU, Verge Ausberry, and grandson of the first black Mayor of New Orleans. He boasts an impressive list of offers from Ohio State, Alabama, and Notre Dame to name few.

Tell me about yourself.

I was born and raised in Baton Rouge. I played varsity basketball my freshman and sophomore year. My first football offer was in November 2020 from Mississippi State.

How did you start playing football?

I started playing flag football when I was 8. When I was 9, I started playing tackle football and it became my passion.

What do you think sets you apart from your competition?

My hunger and dedication. Also, my work ethic like working out and my love for the game.

What accomplishment are you most proud of so far?

Leading the team in tackles and sacks my freshman and sophomore year. I was very proud of myself because there were a lot of good players on the team like Micah Davey and Jardin Gilbert, who is now a safety for Texas A&M.

What keeps you motivated?

My goal to get to the NFL. That’s always been my main goal. I also want to make my family proud and prove the doubters wrong.

How would you describe your style of play?

Really fast, always at the ball, and hungry. I always act like every tackle belongs to me.

Can you share a defining moment for you in football?

My first sack in my first game freshman year. I was really proud of myself.

What goals do you have set this season?

I want to lead the team in sacks and tackles. I also want to go undefeated and lead the team to a state title.

In regard to your future in football, what are you most excited for?

Just to play. That’s what my love goes toward. I just want to play for as long as I can.
