DITR: Preston Hickey

Preston Hickey is a 6’2 1/2, 275 pound defensive lineman for the class of 2022. He maintains a 3.3 GPA at St. Paul High School in Covington, LA. He benches 385 and squats 525 pounds. He uses his incredible strength to defend his opponents and complete plays. He is a preferred walk on for Alabama and has offers from Valparaiso, Arkansas Monticello, and Bethel.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I’m from Covington, LA. I grew up playing and loving football since I was 5. I’ve worked my whole life to become a better player and to be where I am today.

What do you think sets you apart from your competition?

I think my physicality, versatility, and hard work.

What are some things you do to prepare for games?

Watch a lot of film. I’m a student of the game. I prepare for the game during the week and work hard in practice.

What has been a highlight for you so far in your football career?

Getting scholarship offers because that’s what I’ve been working for my whole life for and so few people get that opportunity.

What are some of your goals for the season?

First team all-state D-line and Defensive MVP.

Who or what motivates you?

My dad motivates me. He’s always motivated me. Seeing that self-gratification of where I want to be motivates me every day as well.

What is something you have learned from football that you are able to apply to your everyday life?

Football instills a work ethic unlike anything else. You have to work with the 11 other men on the field.
