DITR: Ta’Derius Collins

Ta'Derius Collins from Northwood High School in Shreveport, LA

Ta’Derius Collins is Class of 2023 Athlete who can play Defensive End, Linebacker, and Wide Receiver at Northwood High School in Shreveport, LA. At 6’4” and 245 lbs, he has elite size for his positions and his speed is noticeable when watching the film. He can rush the passer, play in zone and man coverage, and stop the run. On defense, there is not much more you can ask from your linebacker, and his pass rushing moves and skills collapse the pocket. One thing that stood out was his reaction time, he responds and reacts very quickly to whatever the offense throws at him.

How long have you been playing football?

Ta’Derius: I’ve been playing organized football since 4th grade, my mom didn’t really want me to but I was able to convince her

What positions do you play?

T: I’m a defensive end, I played outside linebacker last year, and I played Wide Receiver. I will be playing Tight End as well next season, but I’m a defensive end.

What position are you best at/what are you going to play at the next level?

T: Defensive End, and I’m going to be the best defensive end in college.

What is going through your mind on every play?

T: I want to find the ball and destroy blocks.

Describe your style of play?

T: I’m the total package. I can pass rush; I can fill my gaps and stuff the running back.

How would your teammates describe you?

T: They would say I’m a “Dog”, I’m going to go and get whatever I want on the field.

What’s your biggest strength as a player?

T: My vision, I’m able to find the ball easily. Along with that, my football IQ and ability to get off blocks are strengths of mine. And pass rushing, of course.

What do you need to improve on the most to be successful at the next level?

T: I need to work on my speed. My coach always says, “If I’m in shape, no one in the state can stop me,” and I’m going to keep improving my speed and my strength.

What’s your goal for this season?

T: My goal is to lead Northwood to a State Championship, I want 1st team All-State Honors, 1st team All-District Honors, and I’m going to win Defensive MVP of Louisiana

Who is your best NFL or College Comparison?

T: Chase Young when he was with Ohio State, I still go back and watch that film. My aggressiveness and ability to do everything asked of me is something Chase Young has, and I’m going to be the best college player when I’m in college.

Talk about your role on the team?

T: I’m a leader. People are always looking up to me, whether it is freshman and middle schoolers or on the field. You have to lead by example and keep your head on a swivel, making sure to always be the best leader and best man I can be.

Why are you the guy these schools should sign to be their next defensive star?

T: I’m the total package, like I talked about earlier.

Anything college coaches should know?

T: No, there’s no injury history or anything concerning. I’m just ready for the opportunity to show out at the next level.
