FIGHTING TIGERS FIFTH DAY OF CAMP

The Tigers took the field today for the fifth day of fall camp, the first time in full equipment. With the heat index over 100o LSU knows that the long hours spent in the summer heat will prepare them for the humidity of Louisiana autumn nights.

On offense the Tigers look to have gotten two freshman that could get some playing time this season. Quarterback Peter Parrish from Phenix City, Alabama. Led his team to total domination in the state championship, winning it 52-7. Had a recent 60 yard touchdown run at practice, showing off his dual threat ability and 4.6 speed.

Running back John Emery Jr. from Destrehan High School showed off his jumped cut ability recently when a run from practice was released showing him outrun the entire defense. Emery had over 1,600 rushing yards as a senior and 29 TDs.

The backs will play a large role in the new passing attack brought in by Coach Joe Brady; screens, quick dumps, and option routes are key in creating space and “attacking the defense” as Coach Brady likes to refer to it.

On defense Derek Stingley Jr. has been everything that was promised and more, adding to the tradition of LSU being “DBU” the 6’1 190lbs freshman looks ready to step up to the national stage. Look for him to challenge for a spot on the ALL SEC Freshman Team, if not the Freshman All American Team.

Maurice Hampton Jr. from Memphis, Tennessee could see playing time in the Tigers defensive backfield this season as well. The 6’ 214lbs freshman was described by Coach Orgeron as “the best athlete on the field for his team. He can play both sides of the ball and we are lucky to have him.”
