It was the home opener for the Southern Jaguars in A.W. Mumford Stadium. It was a back and forth competition in the beginning, in which the Jaguars fell short in the end.

John Lampley, quarterback for SU, threw 2 touchdowns but had 3 costly interceptions. Jerrod Sims had 11 carries for 55 yards and 1 touchdown.
Southern has a BYE Week next week, but will travel to Houston, Texas to take on Texas Southern in a 7:30pm matchup on March 20th. The Jaguars are now 1-1.
Arkansas at Pine-Bluff will have their next matchup against Grambling State University also on March 20th at 12pm. The Golden Lions are now 1-0.
